Tom,
Just wanted to post a message thanking you for taking time to give me some pointers on the tenor sax. I was the woman who watched everything you did on the tenor sax in the front row and talked to you after the show. You thought I was still in school.
I looked up the books you told me about on my phone immediately when I got in my
car so I wouldn't forget them. I plan to go to the store tomorrow and get them. I play a Selmer Paris Super Action 80 tenor sax that is a black laquer
like yours. I could tell your horn was not a Selmer and I read on the message board that it is a Yamaha. I am looking to get a metal mouthpiece again and was
wondering what you would suggest getting. I had a Runyon mouthpiece at one time, but it along with my previous Selmer Paris Super Action 80 tenor sax was
stolen 18 months ago. So I've only had my new tenor for a little over a year. I'd like to get a good metal mouthpiece rather than just anyone. So I
figured you'd know what's good and what's not. I'm really enjoying playing the tenor. I too started out playing the clarinet in school and
then didn't play anything for 13 years before picking up the tenor sax four years ago. I've always wanted to play the sax and I'm loving it. I do
pretty good reading music, but I'm trying to spread my wings a little and venture into playing by ear and doing solo parts in our band. That's why I
was asking about how you play the high notes (the harmonic tones). I've been trying to find out for a while now but couldn't find anyone that knew.
Anyways, I truly do appreciate you taking the time to give me some pointers and wanted you to know that it did not fall on deaf ears. My husband and I are
huge TOP fans and love listening to your music. Our band, White Chocolate, uses trumpets, trombones and saxophone in our music. The card I gave you has our
contact info and website. Unfortunately, we're in the process of updating our website. We do have a myspace page at www.myspace.com/sumwc where you can check us out until our website is complete. Once again, thank you for visiting with me.
I really appreciate it. - Misty Wiseman
