Amoeba and DJ Harry Duncan are proud to welcome master funk drummer David Garibaldi on Saturday, April 28th. Best known as long-time drummer for Tower of Power, he is widely respected as being one of funk and soul music’s most innovative and influential drummers alongside legends like Jabbo Starks, Zig Modeliste, Howard Grimes, Al Jackson, Jr., Clyde Stubblefield, James Gadson, Idris Muhammad, and Bernard Purdie.

Co-author of the Tower of Power classic “What Is Hip,” David Garibaldi has also written, recorded, and toured with artists like Boz Scaggs, Natalie Cole, Poncho Sanchez, Mickey Hart’s Planet Drum, and The BBC Orchestra. He is the creator and author of five popular drum set instruction books, educational DVDs, and Tower of Funk, a classic funk and R&B drum loop CD based on his years with Tower of Power. He is the winner of numerous Readers Polls from Modern Drummer and DRUM ! Magazine, and David is a featured columnist with Modern Drummer and is in demand internationally as a drum set clinician for Yamaha Drums, Sabian Cymbals, and Vic Firth Sticks.
