For the last few months, there was a glass cabinet filled with 30-40 year old paper stuff with the theme of "Urban Renewal" that was produced by the City of Oakland and local newspapers. All these paper items had the words "Urban Renewal" on them.
It was located on the second floor of the Main Library of Oakland which is at 14th at Oak St, the glass cabinet that sits just outside of the elevator. The main Library is about 1 mile north east from where the East Bay Grease album back photo was taken at 9th St at Broadway.
I was contemplating taking some photos of it and posting it on this site, but they changed the display.
Urban Renewal was a major theme for Oakland in the mid 70's. They encouraged the tearing down of the old Victorian wooden homes and replacing them with ugly stucco multi plexes.
